The only thing I can say for certain is, draw very lightly to start with, if you screw up, at least you don't need to get a new piece of paper and start over. You can erase that little bit, and keep going. Second tip: Finish things! Don't stop half way through and give up because it's hard, you can do it. =P

The only thing I can say is really, don't give up. EVERY image starts of looking like s***, it's only when you are almost near completing it does it start looking awesome.

Seriously, just keep at it, erase bits you know you did wrong and keep adding to it. Add detail and shading, cover up bit's that you suck at drawing with clothing and accessories. For example I can't draw faces for crap, so my character's are always wearing some sort of head gear, like gas masks etc.

all I can say is look at my art thread for my next character (3rd version has halted due to little amounts of free time). I have had little art experience, but with some effort I was able to refine my first drawing into something more interesting. It also helps to have a model for your drawings when you are first starting out. It allows you to have something more visual to look upon instead of creating shapes just out of the blue.

Haven't been real serious for a few years even though I indulged my tech toy fetish and bought a Cintiq 21UX, spend far to more time gaming on it than drawing.

Just has to be said, there are some very talented people aboard this ship, er, in this guild. Not much of a drawing person myself - well not in the sense shown here, I'm more of a fashion sketch book drawer (i.e. no face and great detail paid to the clothes more than anything else)

Well I finally got around to 'finishing' one that I've been working on for a while. It's not complete, but I'm not doing anything else with it, and now I've got a set of colored pencils, hooray.

Looking at the preview, I noticed that part of the hair was cut off, but that doesn't really matter.
