As for the avatars, there's a nice little section in the forums where you can ask someone else to make you an avatar, and I also imagine they'd want more than a little input on what you want. Or of course you can spend hours in Photoshop like me tinkering around to make avatars and signatures. . . Or draw your own by hand like I've been trying to do.
