Jedi Knight or Jedi Guardian?

As a veteran of the table-top SW:RPG, I vote for the name change. I am in agree ment that the term "Jedi Knight" pertains more to a title/rank rather than a class or spec. I have ALWAYS played as Consulars but, being referred to as "Consular" as apposed to "Knight" wouldn't make me feel any different other than I'd feel as if my rank was ignored.

Then again, that could be the way BIOWARE saw this. Those focusing on Combat are referred to as "Knights" and those of us wanting to explore the Force are called "Consulars"...

All in all, I vote for the name change since, it is BIOWARE making another SW game, they'd be best staying true to what path they've already paved and staying true to the pen-and-paper RPG.

Now, I know some have mentioned that there are many that haven't read much in terms of canon and/or the EU games and whatnot, and I understand that. The thing is, if you are playing a Star Wars game and you haven't seen the movies, then you're missing out on a great deal of depth. I mean, not to sound snobbish, but these games were made for all of us nerds who wanted to be a part of the universe that we know and love. If that's the case, then nerd-rage (if only a little) at the fact that a class is getting the name of a specific Jedi rank (as written by Lucas) is kind of understood,
too.

I really like the Consular class. The depth of the Force powers and understanding fit the character of Bahn. But I don't want to be referred to my class. I want to be referred to my rank. Even in the first KotOR game (the one Bioware did) you run around as a Sentinel, Guardian, or Consular and some NPCs will still refer to you as "Jedi Knight". I really wanted that depth in the Jedi Order, but unfortunately, I (and we) shall not.

But hey, it's just another small detail; one that is easily over come in time, like the character models. I'm sure Bioware's cooking up something that will make the rank system in the Jedi Order that much more canon-like and depth oriented.

Yea I think your right, Bioware will do a good job. Lets be honest there will always be things we don't like the goal is to make something that is most enjoyable to the target audience and since we arn't all carbon copies we won't all like the same stuff. Best not to get hung up on names. Now if they have ewok Jedi I will be upset

I like the way it is also...one thing we dont know yet is the 2 specialisations of the Jedi knight...who is to say it wont be Jedi Guardian/Jedi Sentinel.
I have faith in Bioware, they have spent years upon years in research and development of this game and the canon that goes with it...they will do a great job imho!
