My guess is that there will be some type of tech class for the Republic, think of Bao-Dur for example. Or it could be called the 'Pilot' class.
Maybe you can get a little droning droid to float with you and fight (although I don't think poor Bao-Dur's droid could do this much....), maybe you can be like Nien Nunb, pilot things, create machinery and all that. That'd be pretty sweet. Possibly even explosive maybe?

In my opinion it has to be something practical, unique and should resemble the movies in some way, i.e Smuggler = Han Solo, Bounty Hunter = Boba and Jango Fett, and the troopers as said by Bioware is suppose to remind you of the Clones.

Your thoughts?

I think there will be a "crafting" class for sure, otherwise it just wouldnt be an MMORPG in my opinion, ide rather it be more like the old pre NGE SWG then completely different.

BioWare do not think crafting is heroic in itself and I tend to agree. (remember, all player characters will be the heroes in their own storyarc)

I don't see the need for a dedicated crafter class, it makes so much more sense to have every class able to craft as a side-proffession.

And I hated the crafting system in SWG.

Yea, you have a point, the crafting system was horrible and mabye it would be better like KOTOR where you get your different upgrades like armour, security, duel wield swords.

Don't get me wrong though, I still think it is good to be able to create and sell items, just not in the way SWG did it.

More traditional MMO crafting but with exciting Star Wars twists and innovative application would be ideal.

I'm still expecting a Sith spy, so that both factions have a way to utilize Bioware's new cover system. It sounded pretty cool and I doubt they will restrict it to only 1 faction. Other than that, I really have no idea. A pilot class would be cool, but I would expect every class to be able to pilot if there is ship-to-ship combat. A tech class would be cool, but I'm not sure what it would be.

Sith nerf herder sounds awesome, a giant nerf farm and a lightsaber staff thats bent on the end like a shepards staff.

I never played SWG, so I'm curious, what kind of class fits the traditional role of "healer?" I ask because that's the role I enjoy and have always played, but not sure how, or if, it fits in with the Star Wars universe.

I'm saying a Spy for the Sith as well.. even in the video, there was the female twi'lek using cover so I think that will happen since a smuggler shouldn't be hanging out with a Sith Lord.

I agree with what Jacen said about how every class would be able to do things like this, so the crafting and such would be professions.

I believe that it will be the sith commando class,since it keeps showing up in the comics, and it showed up on the cinematic trailor.

My guesses based on 8 professions that appear in Holocron, Could be completely wrong but these would be some i would consider

Lightside
Jedi
- skills tree Consular or sentinel or guardian

Smuggler
- skills tree Specialization pistols or Debuffs / DOTs or Roots / Snares / CC

Bounty Hunter
- skills tree Specialization pistols or Carbines or Rifles

Soldier
- skills tree Specialization Assault or Recon or Heavy weapon

Creature Handler
- skills tree Specialization lions or tigers or bears.......Oh my!

Commander / Officer or something similar
- skills tree Specialization Paladin type Auras; group buffs or some such

Combat Medic / healer or something similar
- skills tree Specialization Hots or Dots

8th profession? something lightside unique?

Darkside
Sith

Crafting will be a secondary skill i bet with something like Weaponsmith; Armorsmith; Droidsmith and maybe Shipwright if and when they add space. Hoping they also have entertainer(like from SWG) stuff as a secondary skill or as a twil'ek Race skill, be nice to lurk around in cantinas again : D

Not including possibly classes that branch of the mains ones there will actually only be 4 per faction/alleigence.

For example we know the Republic will have Jedi, Trooper and Smuggler so theres one more for them. The Empire will have Sith and Bounty Hunter so theres two more for them.

The Holonet confirms this.

I'm going for more of a sith assasin, it seems to fit the whole role of sith better.

Maybe you will the opportunity to craft items and supply things for PvP or something similar? There will be some type of crafting I know, but a sole crafting class I am not sure about.

Well one thing for me was that I had to depend on other classes. If I wanted to craft armor I needed a tailor to craft this and that. Another thing was the way you collect resources; with harvesters and grinding. It was everything but exciting.

But the thing that got me the most annoyed was the so lack of guidance! It took so much time to try to understand how it all worked and you had to run around and ask other players. A frekkin in-game manual should've been put in.

...we all know who they're based on. Having a little trouble coming up with anything else.

Diplomats? Thugs (like in ME cantina)? Beast Masters (from KoTOR)? And who many else has purposed Engineer or Assassin?


I find Sith Assassin a little unlikely as they have, well not the same story(arc) but just as the BH assassins hunt people down (even if BH's storyarc is about hunting animals aka "The Great Hunt"). And that they would be in the same team... Buut if they're in the game I don't doubt they'll will be very unique.

Now I reread Cuyir's post and I agree totally. I can clearly see a Sith Spy, sneaking into a Republic base, not out to murder but to steal info.

I think we will see Sith Spy instead of assassin. If not spy than we will probably see some type of commando class, or at least that is my guess.

its funny really the things that pissed you off were the things that made it such a great system... of all the MMOs to date none have even come close to the greatness of SWG crafting system and Economy, i still miss it *gets crafter addict shakes* just 1 more fix man!

i very much hope your wrong on this mate, not just because i want a rebel bounty hunter but from a Game / PVP balance point of view

jedi = sith
Soldier = clone Trooper

theres balance there, they are same ideally but opposite.

If Bounty hunter is Darkside unique that make things very much in favor of the empire.....
