Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ reveals the next playable class, the street savvy, credit seeking Smuggler.

And THAT will be my second character if they're allowed. Cover system.. nothing but sweet when that's incorporated into an MMO.

The way they showed the Smuggler fighting fits very well with the lore. I think anyone who plays this class will use the cover strategy and have fun with it.

Yea each one will have its own unique advantage on the battle field and a mixture will definitely make you stronger. I know speculation is pretty pointless, but I'm gonna guess that the next class reveal will be a spy on the empire side. It would kinda be like the smuggler in combat. Now the big question is whats the fourth class gonna be? For some reason I feel like its gonna be a crafter class because we haven't seen any hints of another combat class. Ofcourse this is totally a guess. The wait for this game is not getting any easier!!

I think it will be a crafter class as well, but possibly combat related? Like a Droidmaster or something similar? Almost like the one who can command "pets" to do their bidding. Just a speculation, but it would be cooler than just straight up doing nothing but crafting in TOR. If it is just nothing but a crafter, I can forsee TONS of alts. I for one would have one, no doubt.

I really hope that the Smuggler class is more than a straight crafter. Really, I hope that all of the class have indivual preset crafting skills. Such as the trooper making weapons, the smuggler makes droid parts, etc. Or at least everyone gets the ability to select individual crafting skills like in WoW.

I'd prefer the latter.. that way I can organize crafting leaders without it being dependant on class.

As would I. It would make much more sense. I see no reason why a smuggler or trooper or etc...couldn't learn how to construct armor and weapons and droid parts and...etc.

We'll have to wait for one of those class creation updates to get a better look at them I think.

I'm hoping troopers will be able to do demolition and sabotage.
It's like, set up some explosives (thermal dets maybe?) around a door, blow it open then storm in with a flurry of fire.
And with the hero engine it shouldn't be too hard to make different animation sequences and ideas for this.

amazing read. It seems that the smuggler is going to work like Mass Effect. The one amazing quality that I will love/hate about the smuggler is that they have the ability to hide behind a wall and shoot at the enemy while doing so.

Well some time ago I decided to become a smuggler way before they showed the class..

I love it, I hope we will be truely able to smuggle stuffs.
I love the cover system but I doubt it would work against a jumpy jedi.

And I know I always call them lightsaber wielding pussies. but.....
they offcourse are awesome and my alt will be a jedi but first zee smuggler!!

Smugglers for life yo!

I think higher level smugglers will easily be able to take on jedi with pinpoint blaster fire and grenades n' such. The developers will want it balanced.
